 Mission Statement

HunEx-Econ is a group of economists and business professionals working in Washington and other parts of the United States who are concerned about the state of the Hungarian economy. The Group establishes and develops an informal and nonpartisan network of these professionals, providing a platform for expressing opinions and views that are considered relevant and important by the economic policymakers in Hungary. The Group welcomes the cooperation of all those professionals who are willing to support economic decisions and policies in Hungary by expressing their objective expert advice.

The strength of the Group is determined by professional objectivity, nonpartisanship, and the widespread range of professional background of those who participate in the Group's activities. The participants of the Group are professionals with international experience in the fields of economic policy, finance, competition policy, social policy and academic research. They are not only masters in their own fields, but they can successfully work together with professionals from other areas as well.

 Objectives & Operation

The Group organizes conferences and roundtable discussions covering outstanding issues of the Hungarian economy, as well as meetings and consultations with Hungarian economic policymakers, where the members of the Group have the opportunity to express their opinions and views directly to the decision makers.

Besides covering the topical economic issues, the Group also welcomes the cooperation of academic researchers.

Furthermore, the Group encourages its participants to publish in journals and present at conferences on topics related to the Hungarian economy.

In order to operate more efficiently, the Group seeks topic area leaders to coordinate the work program of narrower professional fields (e.g. economic policy, health care, pensions, financial markets, etc.) and maintain relationship with professionals of the specific area.
